Help With Graphic Design/Web customer?

I have a customer that is also a friend that is switching web designers, as i don’t have much time for his constant changes. He has a new designer that wants me to convert my flash website i built for him into HTML because his new designer doesn’t have flash.

He also wants me to send all my design files and photos i took of products to this new designer.
I feel like i have gone above and beyond what he wanted me to design. Now should i hand over all my work to this new designer. And what to do about the Flash into HTML. need moral and professional designer advice.

ps: i designed the full business cabinet and logo and website for less than $400

Oh dear, that’s a toughie. Sounds like situations I’ve been in – I am also a designer with “friends” that like to do this to me.

Tell him that because of what he intends to do, this is a NEW site. It isn’t a simple conversion.

I’d give him choices:
“I can give you the graphics (jpegs, vector stuff) and your new designer can create the html pages.”

“You can find a designer who has/knows flash and I will give you my flash files.”

“It will take me XX hours to create a whole new html-based website for you, and I will have to charge you XX. Then you can pay someone else to maintain it.”

As designers, we have to let go of our products. I know you created it but don’t let that be the reason you are hanging on. Keep the flash site for your portfolio and move on.

What kind of designer doesn’t have Flash? He’s going cheapy on you, isn’t he?

Nowadays, Internet has become the greatest hub for shopping. People are visiting various websites for online marketing because here the latest products are available on the reasonable prices. Out of millions of websites some are popular and some are not making it big. But those which are popular have one common thing in their websites, apart from offering good product and services, they all have beautiful web design, soothing to the eye and they are user-friendly.

If you also want to make your website a popular one and want to generate revenue out of it then you can opt for a flash website design company. In fact website design has evolved to a great extent since the beginning of Internet. The first page on a web server was just a simple document with black text. Since then, websites have evolved into a more complex combination of design and code. And in late 1990s, websites were designed using colors and various text effects. And now it seems that there is no limit as far as designing is concerned. Pages are becoming more and more attractive.

Now website designs are more mature and they are created by from a user’s point of view. They are based on the content of the website. The user must understand what are the products and services of a website by its outlook and that is why people are opting for flash website design. These designs are aesthetically developed to soothe the eyes of its user and keep them engaged. Designers create perfect layouts and keep the background simple. The images and icons are used to highlight important points and videos are also embedded to provide dynamic content. These features keep that audience engaged totally.

These days flash website design companies suggest to use subtle and light colors to complement the design and they have made 3D gradients and reflection effects as the current trends. So website designs are getting better day by day providing a website a mature professional look. This look is more important than stuffing of images, icons and other components. So choose a flash website design company and mark your presence in the field of online marketing with a professionally designed website.

Advertising Copy

Advertising copy?

Just what is advertising copy?
What does a copy writer actually do?

Copy writers are the folks who come up with the verbiage in the ads we see everywhere….in the newspaper for example. They have to write how wonderful their brand of toothpaste is.
They get paid well, but have to always be thinking about writing the next batch of BS.

Web Page Copywriting

To be a good web designer is it also necessary to be a good graphics designer?

I know there are lots of other things that comprise a good web page besides graphics.
Good coding practices, good copywriting, SEO, optimized usability and so on.
But I`m wondering whether a lack of graphic art ability is a severe handicap to a career in web design.
I should add that I`m already pretty proficient with CSS and XHTML. Even know a bit of Javascript and PHP.

But the idea of designing a Logo or a Header for a web page makes me break a cold sweat!

Well, there’s web design, and there’s web development. Those are very different (if related) occupations.

Web designers are obviously concerned about design. It’s in the job title. They’re the folks who spend a lot of effort on the visual appeal of the web site, and what they do is important.

However, there’s a whole lot more to the web world than the design aspects. Most modern web sites aren’t just documents anymore. They’re dynamic programs which respond to the user, aggregate data from a database, and build a page on the fly, applying a visual style to that page.

The designer is usually involved in the last stage of the process. The person who analyzes the problems, the person who builds the database, the person who writes the back-end code, and many others are involved in the development of a web site, and most of those folks don’t have to have a lot of design background.

If you’re trying to create a web firm on your own, it’s good to have a mix of design and the technical aspects. However, if you only have one side, maybe the technical aspects are more convenient. It’s a lot cheaper to hire a designer than it is to hire a database expert or computer programmer.
