professional flash website design
Help With Graphic Design/Web customer?

I have a customer that is also a friend that is switching web designers, as i don’t have much time for his constant changes. He has a new designer that wants me to convert my flash website i built for him into HTML because his new designer doesn’t have flash.

He also wants me to send all my design files and photos i took of products to this new designer.
I feel like i have gone above and beyond what he wanted me to design. Now should i hand over all my work to this new designer. And what to do about the Flash into HTML. need moral and professional designer advice.

ps: i designed the full business cabinet and logo and website for less than $400

Oh dear, that’s a toughie. Sounds like situations I’ve been in – I am also a designer with “friends” that like to do this to me.

Tell him that because of what he intends to do, this is a NEW site. It isn’t a simple conversion.

I’d give him choices:
“I can give you the graphics (jpegs, vector stuff) and your new designer can create the html pages.”

“You can find a designer who has/knows flash and I will give you my flash files.”

“It will take me XX hours to create a whole new html-based website for you, and I will have to charge you XX. Then you can pay someone else to maintain it.”

As designers, we have to let go of our products. I know you created it but don’t let that be the reason you are hanging on. Keep the flash site for your portfolio and move on.

What kind of designer doesn’t have Flash? He’s going cheapy on you, isn’t he?
